MINI JCW Electric
We absolutely love the Mini JCW here at BOTB, but we also love EVs. So you can imagine how happy we were when the new Mini JCW Electric was revealed!
So you still have the same awesome Mini hot hatch looks with an aggressive front bumper, new headlights with horizontal DRLs, chunky alloy wheels, side skirts, red details, a huge rear spoiler and rear diffuser. The interior has JCW sports seats, sporty detailing and the new awesome round central infotainment/everything screen.
But the difference is here, this JCW Electric has a 254bhp electric motor powering it, providing 340Nm of torque which is enough to get it to 62mph in just 5.9secs. The 49.2kWh battery sits under the floor and enables the JCW Electric to have a WLTP range of 251 miles and 95kW DC charging.
So you have hot hatch looks, hot hatch handling (because what Mini doesn’t) and all without burning a single hydrocarbon. Sign us up!
TESLA MODEL Y LONG RANGE
The Tesla Model 3 has been an absolute revolution in the car market, outselling all other EVs by a huge amount thanks to the combination of sleek looks, huge range and amazing charging infrastructure.
But the Model 3 is a relatively small saloon, so not too practical – step forward the new Model Y. The Y is based on the same platform as the 3, but is much taller, raised up and wider, plus it’s a hatchback. This is THE practical family EV that everyone has been waiting for.
Being the Long Range model, this Y packs a 70kWh usable battery, which means a WLTP range of 315 miles (Tesla is very good with this, so real world is still 280-300 miles). Performance is still mighty as well thanks to the Dual Motor setup producing 434bhp and 495Nm of torque – 5.0 seconds to 62mph is certainly quick enough for most people.
Practicality is off the scale too, with an 850 litre boot that grows to 2150 litres with the seats folded and an extra 117 litre space in the ‘frunk’.
Thanks to the amazing Supercharger network you could also go from 10-80% charge in just 29 minutes – that’s an extra 180 miles in the time it takes to grab a coffee and go to the toilet.
