Stokie dad struggling with cost of living wins life-changing £65k

Jun 2024

A Stokie dad who has been struggling with rising bills has won a new car worth nearly £65,000. Toader Flutur has bagged himself a BMW3 Competition in online competition with BOTB.
However, warehouse worker Toader said he’s planning to take the cash alternative to support his young family. The win has come at a good time for Toader who has a young son and has been working night shifts to make ends meet.

Toader, from Stoke-on-Trent, was catching up on some much-needed sleep after one of his night shifts when BOTB presenter Christian Williams video called him and surprised him with the news.

“It feels unbelievable to have won and I never imagined it would happen to me when I entered,” the 31-year-old said. "I couldn’t get back to sleep after Christian told me, so I was really tired for my next night shift. When my manager at work found out, he said he’s going to start playing.”

Toader added: “This is going to be life-changing for us. Things have been really difficult with the cost of everything going up such as rent.

“I’ve got a 15-month-old son and my wife has been on maternity leave, so I’ve been the only one working. We’ll use the money to put towards a mortgage on a house. I want the best for my son and this will go a long way towards that."
Christian said: “I was delighted to be able to surprise Toader with this amazing prize. After finding out the reason for my call, I’m sure he didn’t mind me waking him up in the end.

“It sounds like he’s going to take the cash alternative over the car, and has plans to spend the money very wisely. After working long hours to provide for his wife and son, it will hopefully mean he can enjoy spending more quality time at home.”
BOTB hands over the keys to a car each week as well as a lifestyle prize. Founded by William Hindmarch in 1999, it has given away £67m-worth of cars so far.
