BETTER THAN WATCHING!

Richard Roulstone from Hull watches the winner surprise videos every week, wondering if he'd ever feature in one himself... and today was that day!

"Wow... that's amazing!" he exclaimed as Christian pulled the cover off a brand new Audi RS3 Sportback worth over £53,000 – "I can't smile wide enough... it's brilliant!"

His smile did get even wider, though, as Christian opened the boot to reveal £40,000 cash to go alongside the brand new hot hatch – what a fantastic way to start the weekend – huge congrats, Richard!

Hull dad wins £54k Audi with £40k in the boot

Apr 2022

A dad-of-two from Hull was left speechless after scooping a top-of-the-range Audi with £40,000 hidden in the boot - all for a £1.50 competition ticket.

Richard Roulstone, 43, was at home when competition company BOTB’s Christian Williams turned up to tell him he was this week’s Midweek Car Competition winner and the owner of a new £53,830 Audi RS3 Sportback as well as being £40,000 richer. “I can’t smile wide enough, this is amazing,” he said.

“I’ve watched all the winners' videos before and I always wonder why people don’t say much. Now I get it - I don’t know what to say!” Richard, who has played BOTB for more than a year, said he played for the Audi because it is the “whole package". He said: "I drive a Citroën DS5 at the moment so this is certainly an upgrade. The look, the sound, the interior - it’s got everything.”
But it wasn’t just the Audi RS3 Richard won, as Christian opened the boot to reveal £40,000 cash waiting for him. An almost speechless Richard said the money would go towards a house deposit and a long overdue holiday.

“My wife and I are both mature students so we’re currently living in rented accommodation while trying to support our young children so this money will go a long way for us,” he said. “First things first we’ll be booking a family holiday - my children have never been abroad so I just can’t wait to take them. The rest will go on a house deposit.”
Richard lives with his wife Danielle and their two children, Jack, 12, and Ella, 10. BOTB hands over the keys to two stunning cars each week as well as the lifestyle prize. Other recent winners have bagged a quad bike, a holiday to the Arctic and £15,000 in cash.

The dream car and lifestyle competition company, listed on the stock market, was founded by William Hindmarch in 1999 and has given away more than £47m worth of cars so far. BOTB presenter Christian Williams said: “I love my job getting to surprise the lucky BOTB winners each week and this week was no different when we got to go to Hull to meet Richard. He’s played for an awesome prize and I’m super excited for him.”

BOTB first opened at Heathrow Airport in 1999, with Daveeda Shaheen scooping the first prize. It clocked up its 500th winner in 2019 and many winners continue to play, convinced they have the Midas touch. Based in Fulham, BOTB has had winners all across the globe.

The company uses former professional footballers to judge the competition independently each week, alongside current and former referees. William Hindmarch grew up in a house where cars ruled the roost. Indeed, legend has it that his father splashed out on a car ahead of a staircase in their first home.

TESTIMONIAL

What a brilliant, modern take on the classic spot the ball game. I played for a year before winning the Midweek competition and I was blown away by the whole experience. From meeting Christian, to receiving the prize money and ordering my car, every step has been fantastic. Vanessa, who helps the winners, is professional and patient while you're getting your head around winning, and helps set the wheels in motion for your new car. Just for the record, I'm not on social media at all, so anyone who doubts the existence of winners based on that are just plain wrong. I've been playing the lottery for more than 25 years and not won, but that doesn't make it a scam! The best of luck to everyone who plays.
