Dream Car competition winner & results Gary Hely - Porsche 911 Turbo Convertible + £20k Cash 04 - 10 Jun Week 23 2018

Gary Hely only plays a couple of tickets every week, but chooses cars “that are really worth winning!” And that’s certainly the case with the Porsche 911 Turbo convertible, worth over £137,000! Hair stylist Gary was expecting a client to show up this morning, but was greeted instead by Christian and this monster of a supercar – the perfect choice for the Scottish high roads that Gary’s already decided on for his first drive.

And Gary’s morning got better still when Christian revealed £20k in cash in the boot, exclaiming “it doesn’t get much better than this!” Christian was a brave man to sit down for a trim with Gary’s shaky hands after all that excitement – congratulations!

Famed Glasgow hairdresser Gary Hely surprised with £137K Porsche prize

Jun 2018

A FAMED Glasgow hairdresser received the surprise of a lifetime after winning a top-of-the-range Porsche worth £137,000.

Gary Hely, who runs third generation business HelyHairStudio, in Hyndland, was “lost for words” when he was handed the keys to the luxury Porsche 911 Turbo Convertible AND £20,000 cash.

Christian Williams, of dream car giveaway company BOTB, surprised Gary on Tuesday morning at the salon which is regarded as Scotland’s longest running hairdressing business.

Gary, son of famed late Glaswegian hairdresser Robert Hely, said: “It’s just absolutely amazing. It really doesn’t get any better than this.

“I’m not sure how I’m going to cut anybody else’s hair for the rest of the day. I’m still shaking.

“The 911 is a car I’ve always loved and a car which is probably one of the best around. I really can’t believe I’m the owner of one now.”

BOTB was founded by William Hindmarch in 1999 and has handed over the keys to more than £22 million worth of supercars.

Gary has already started to plan a trip around the country to take his new wheels for a spin.

He added: “I can’t wait to take it up north and around Scotland. There are so many beautiful scenic routes which will be even more beautiful with the roof down on this amazing car.”

Christian, who delivered the good news, said Gary was a worthy winner.

He said: “I have one of the best jobs in the world, handing people the keys to their dream car.

“But, to surprise Gary with the car of his dream and to get a free haircut from the man behind one of Glasgow’s most famous salons is quite the privilege.”

TESTIMONIAL

Well, I’ve been playing BOTB every now and then for a few years and as always would play and then look to see how close I’d got. So after playing on Friday, I was waiting for the results to come through and find out again how close this time.

This time was different. Waiting for my next client to arrive I looked out the window to see a BOTB gilet walking towards the door followed by a cameraman, of course, Christian was laughing as he opened the door.

I, on the other hand, have to admit it took me a few seconds to take in what was actually happening and then OMG. I couldn’t believe it, what a totally surreal feeling and shock. Even when Christian was speaking to me, my mind was whizzing in disbelief. I’d won my dream car a Porsche turbo cabriolet and the money. This time it was me.

Playing BOTB has made a dream come true and I can’t wait till I collect this fantastic car and drive our amazing Scottish roads in it.

A big thank you to BOTB for being so fantastic and to all the team I’m in contact with, I’ll never forget the day, still feels surreal.
