A woman who has scooped an eye-watering £250,000 cash prize with online competition firm BOTB is hoping to use the money to allow her to spend more time with her unwell father. Dawn Baker, of Lechlade-on-Thames, was left stunned when the firm’s Christian Williams turned up at her work place in Cheltenham town centre to tell her she was the weekly dream car competition winner. Walking up the road with Virgin Radio star Christian, she was met by a huge digital screen revealing her life-changing prize. Dawn, who works as a reception administrator at a firm of solicitors, said: “It’s like a dream come true. I was shaking like a leaf when I was told the news.

“I went to work with a lot of worry and left with a huge weight off my shoulders.”

Having had a tough time recently with her dad, Michael Carrington, who lives in Oxfordshire, being unwell, she plans to use the money to help her spend more quality time with her family. She said: “My family are my life and I could help them so much with this money. I can help my dad who is unwell and is going through a very tough time. “I love my dad so much and I wanted to have more time with him. Years ago, I used to sit on his knee and play Spot the Ball in the newspaper, although we never won!

“He is very well-known and everyone loves him. I can’t go anywhere without someone asking about him. He has played a lot of darts, football and cricket. He has always involved himself in the community and what he has gone through has been heartbreaking. “Winning this amount of money couldn’t have come at a better time and it’s like someone is looking down on us.” Dawn, who is a hairdresser by trade, is also planning to use some of her cash prize to treat her husband, Tim, and two sons, Louis and Joey, and pay off their mortgage.

She said: “My sons are in their early 30s and work really hard so I plan to help them. I will also get my husband something nice, maybe a new vehicle.” Christian said: “Huge congratulations to Dawn, our biggest ever cash winner. It feels amazing to give her the surprise of a lifetime. She set me off with a few tears and I can tell how much winning the money means to her and her family, especially her father.

“And well done to her husband Tim who kept this amazing secret from her!”
