Lucky Co Antrim man wins new motorbike after entering competition for less than £1

Aug 2020

A Co Antrim motorhead was left speechless after scooping a motorbike in BOTB's online competition during lockdown.

Michael Aiken, 36, thought it was any other day during the Coronavirus pandemic when he received a video call from BOTB presenter Christian Williams.

Unable to hide his excitement, Michael shouts to his children: "I've just won a motorbike!"
"That's amazing. That looks awesome, I can't wait," he told Christian.

Explaining how he came to enter the competition, the Carrickfergus man added: "When I saw that the bike had come out, Moto Guzzi didn't release it that long ago, and I saw the colour scheme.

"I logged on to BOTB.com and seen it, I thought I had to get a couple of tickets for that.

"This will be my first Moto Guzzi and I cannot wait."

Christian, who surprises BOTB winners all over the country each week, said: "You entered into our BOTB Lifestyle Competition last week.

"I added you as a contact on my phone and I saw that your WhatsApp picture was a motorbike, so you must be quite a big fan of bikes.

"£10,000 that bike is worth and it's all yours and what a bike it is."

Michael, who paid just 55p for his ticket to enter the competition, added: "I've never had a brand bike before either. This is amazing. I can't believe it."

Since being founded in 1999 by William Hindmarch, BOTB has given away over £34m worth of prizes, including supercars, cash and holidays.

TESTIMONIAL

BOTB are the real deal! The process from start to finish was fantastic - when Christian called me to break the news I just couldn't believe it, I had never won anything before and it was such a genuine surprise - it just didn't feel real at all, and I had only bought the tickets on a whim.

After that initial call the follow up from the team at BOTB was amazing. Within a week of winning they managed to source and pay for the motorbike from a local dealer so I wouldn't have to travel too far to collect it - the dealer claims it was the strangest and easiest sale he has ever had! Special thanks go to Vanessa the Operations Manager who kept me informed the whole way through the process. When my wife dropped me down to the dealers to collect the bike, it really sunk in - pulling into the car park to see MY brand new bike sitting gleaming outside was an unbelievable feeling. It has rained nearly every day since that first ride home but I've still been in the garage looking at the bike and pinching myself!

You read loads of comments online from people thinking nobody really wins - I was always a bit sceptical of these sort of competitions but not anymore - they are the real deal. The impression I had the whole way through was that BOTB were an extremely professional and approachable outfit and I would not hesitate to recommend them to anyone.
