Dubliner bags £10k Yamaha bike for just 50p in online draw

Jan 2021

Gareth Byrne, 31, was at work when he got the surprise call revealing he’d won a draw he entered with online competitions company BOTB.

BOTB presenter Christian Williams video called to inform him he was this week’s Luxury Lifestyle Competition winner and had bagged himself a brand-new Yamaha T-Max worth more than £10,000 sterling.

But the forklift driver, who paid just 50 pence for his ticket, said he “just knew he was going to win this week”.

A delighted Gareth revealed: “My grandad Edward passed away before Christmas and we buried him last week. I said to myself, I know I’m going to win BOTB this week because my grandad will be looking over me and bring me good luck.”

He added: “I’ve been playing BOTB for only a few weeks but always played for the Yahama T-Max. It’s a fantastic piece of kit.”

The bike can travel up to a speed of 115mph and has 47 bhp.

“It’s seriously quick,” said Gareth. “But it looks good too – it’s a dream come true.”

BOTB hands over the keys to two stunning cars each week as well as a lifestyle prize. Other recent winners have bagged a £15,000 cash, a holiday to Las Vegas and a gaming tech bundle.

To see Gareth’s shock reaction alongside a host of other lucky winners, head over to BOTB.com.
