The Evoque is arguably the car that saved Land Rover – allowing people access to the premium Range Rover badge at a much lower price point.

It was also based on standard LR mechanicals but sold at a higher price, so it was a big moneymaker. This is why you’d be forgiven for thinking nothing has changed with this new Evoque – if it isn’t broken, why fix it?

So to the casual observer, the new Evoque looks very similar to the old one, but every panel is new. They’ve taken the new Range Rover family look of slimmer LED headlights and funky grille, adding the Velar rear lights and bingo – the same familiar shape but looking 2020 and modern.

This is the new Plug-In Hybrid (PHEV) Evoque too, so there's a 1.5 litre 3-cylinder turbo petrol engine combined with a 15kWh battery and electric motor to give a combined 265bhp and 540Nm of torque. That means great performance, combined with crazy fuel economy and the ability to travel 39 miles on EV power alone. So drive around town in EV mode, then let the petrol kick in for longer journeys - perfect.

It’s no longer than the old car but has a slightly longer wheelbase meaning more rear legroom, and that interior looks straight from the Velar. R-Dynamic HSE spec brings all the toys you could want, too.

Win this phenomenal Range Rover in the BOTB Dream car competition!
