It may have taken a while, but finally, BMW’s I range of EVs is starting to fill out. First, we had the i3 and i8; now we have the i4, i5, i7, iX3 and this – the iX SUV. With bold styling and impressive stats, this is taking the fight straight to Audi’s Q6 e-tron, Mercedes’ EQC and, of course, the Tesla Model X.
This is the high-spec iX xDrive60 M-Sport model, so it has dual motors, meaning it’s AWD. It produces 536bhp and 765Nm of torque and gives ample acceleration to 62mph in a smidge over 4.5 seconds. But sitting in that floorplan is a monster 109kWh battery, which means you will get 426 miles on a charge – enough to get you from London to the Scottish border without stopping!
The iX is a ground-up EV design, unlike the i4, so there is a huge amount of space inside, a unique, modern interior and more tech acronyms than you can imagine.
With a range like this, we expect this BMW iX to be very popular!
