Royal Navy trainee Sam McGovan says he feels like James Bond after winning a dream car and cash prize worth a whopping £103,000 in an online competition. The 20-year-old had just completed a 10-hour journey from his home in Redruth to take his Navy exam when was stopped as he got off the train at Paddington station in London by BOTB Christian Williams.

After learning he is now the proud owner of a stunning £73,000 Porsche 718 Cayman, Sam said: "I just can’t believe I have won such an amazing car. I feel like James Bond. When I first saw Christian and his cameraman, I thought surely they weren’t there for me. I’ve won a couple of football bets before, but nothing like this.”

The Porsche 718 Cayman features a Flat-6 engine, 395bhp and a top speed of 182mph. “I was looking at saving up for a 2005 Porsche Boxster for £10,000, but I won’t have to now and this is certainly a little bit better,” Sam said.

“The car looks and sounds amazing, and I’ve never even touched one like this before.” And the surprise didn’t end there for Sam, who was joined at Paddington station by his family, as Christian also revealed £30,000 in cash stashed in the boot of the car.

“I haven’t even thought about that kind of money. It’s going to change my life so much,” Sam said. “It’s going to help with things like paying for a mortgage for a house.

“I’m also going to give a bit of it to my parents because they have helped me so much.” Sam said: Sam’s dad said his son has been dreaming of driving a Porsche since he could drive, so it was amazing to be able to surprise him with his dream car.

“The Cayman is a lovely car to drive. Not only does it sound fantastic, it handles the road as you would expect a proper sports car would. He might even be able to outrun James Bond. I know his mum was worried that his head would be fried for his exam, so I hope it didn’t distract him too much.”
