Most students don’t take kindly to being awoken from their slumber, unless of course there’s a brand new car in it for them.
So while Emmanuel Omubo-Dede, an economics undergraduate at Swansea University , struggled to get out from under the duvet, a team from prize draw website BOTB.com were on their way to deliver his first car.
It was probably worth the early morning call for Emmanuel- for he picked up a brand new Ford Fiesta ST.
BOTB have given away cars worth over £20million since their launch in 1999.
Emmanuel is sure to be the envy of his classmates, although he admits he’d never yet driven on the left hand side of the road before.
“This is my first-ever car and it’s an amazing car to own. I’m looking forward to testing it out,” said the 21-year old.
“I’ve only ever driven in Nigeria before so I’m going to have to get used to right-hand drive.”
Will, who handed over the keys from BOTB said it was always a delight to see winners’ reactions, even if they had just woken up.
“I never get tired of seeing how shocked our winners are,” he smiled.
“It’s such an incredible moment when someone knocks on your door and hands you the keys to your dream car, and we’re delighted that Emmanuel can now take his place on our prestigious list of victors!
“It took him some time to open the door but we’re glad it was worth the wait.”
And it looks like the surprise may take some time to wear off.
“I was really surprised when they turned up - I’m still in shock,” said Emmanuel.
“Every time I hear a knock at the door I wonder if it’s my turn to win, but it ends up being a delivery of some sort or somebody else. So actually I wasn’t expecting this to be any different. It was a nice surprise to have.”
