Waste worker dumbstruck by car prize {{favouriteCount}}
A WASTE worker from near Selby was dumbstruck after winning a top-of-the-range Mercedes and £20,000 in cash from a dream car giveaway company.
Roger Bryce, from Wressle, was handed the keys to the £45,000 Mercedes C43 AMG in BOTB’s trademark Tuesday surprise while surrounded by cheering work colleagues.
The 34-year-old was lost for words when Christian Williams from BOTB turned up to the factory with the good news.
Roger said: "I’ve been waiting for this moment for years but I never thought it would happen.
"Every Tuesday I’d watch the winners sit there in total shock and say ‘if it was me I’d be jumping around’. But I know now what they’re going through. My heart is all over the place and I just couldn’t think of anything to say when I saw Christian in his BOTB jacket."
BOTB was founded by William Hindmarch in 1999 and has handed over the keys to more than £22 million worth of supercars.
Roger admitted that work had passed by in a blur but there was no fanfare when he arrived home.
"I told my housemates but neither of them believed me," he said.
"When I came home from work there was no one there so it was a bit of an anti-climax. I was expecting a million questions.
"No doubt their minds will change when I pick up the car in a couple of weeks. I’ve already decided what colour and what spec. I’m pretty impatient so I did that in about half an hour."
