The incredible moment Plymouth grandad finds out he's won a £100k supercar {{favouriteCount}} Quantity of Likes

A grandad with a love of gas-guzzlers has scooped a £100,000 supercar just weeks after trading in his sportscar for ‘something more sensible’.

Andy Wilmott, 65, was ambushed at his work in Ivybridge with the stunning coupe.

The lucky Plymouth man, who works as a production manager at Calor Gas, won the £98,895 car after entering BOTB’s luxury car competition last week.

“It’s so surreal,” Andy said. “My phone has been ringing all day. Suddenly all my colleagues need a lift!”

Andy is no stranger to a sports car. “I’m a fan of Japanese sports cars,” he said. “In the past I’ve had a Honda Civic Type R and a Mazda MX 8. This is the flagship Japanese sports car so I couldn’t be happier.

The car-loving grandfather is naturally over the moon to have won the keys to a new toy.

“I recently traded in a sports car for something a bit more sensible,” he laughed. “I have an 18-month-old granddaughter and needed something more practical for her. Now I can have both! There’s even enough room in the boot of the Nissan for my golf clubs."

“I have no idea where I will take my first ride,” he added. “But I am not short of stunning options in Devon.”

Although he is a fan of the black GT-R model BOTB presenter Christian surprised him with, Andy’s wife will get final say over the spec. “She won’t want to drive it as it’s very powerful, but she will definitely decide the specifics!Christian Williams, who delivered the good news, said Andy was a worthy winner.

“I have one of the best jobs in the world, handing people the keys to their dream car,” said Christian. “Andy is a family man who gave up a something he loved for his granddaughter. I’m so happy we’ve been able to help him have both.”
