Somerset man wins £65k dream car two weeks after cancer diagnosis {{favouriteCount}} Quantity of Likes

A Somerset man who was diagnosed with cancer has won his dream car worth nearly £65,000 just two weeks after the heartbreaking news. Chris Turner, from Bridgwater, was on his way to get more scans when Christian Williams, presenter of online competition specialist BOTB, intercepted him coming off the train to surprise him with a BMW M2 worth £64,890.

“I just can’t quite believe I have won my dream car. It feels fantastic,” said the Dream Car Competition winner, who thought Christian was a taxi driver coming to pick him up.

“I've had a really tough couple of weeks and when I received my diagnosis, it hit me like a brick wall. It’s one of those things you never want to hear, but winning this competition has given me a real lift.

“I think I needed something positive and it doesn’t get much better than this. It has definitely given me another reason to keep going. I’ve seen Christian’s face so many times online, but I still thought he was the taxi driver.

“Whatever my future is, this has been an experience I will never forget, and it felt even better than I imagined it would!”

The BMW M2 features an i6 Turbo engine, 454bhp and a top speed of 155mph.

“I used to be a petrolhead and when my daughter came along my wife banned me from having cars with ‘R’ in the title. I’ve always preferred small, compact sports cars. When I saw the shape of this car I thought that it had my name on it.

“We’re being really careful with money at the moment and the cash alternative would provide us with a safety net, but my wife has been pretty insistent I should take the car.

“I’m surrounded by good friends and family and am trying to be positive about the future as I’ve got a lot to look forward to, including receiving my dream car,” the 53-year-old added.

Christian said: “When we heard Chris was coming to London for more tests after a recent cancer diagnosis, we knew we had to go and surprise him at Paddington station with his stunning dream car. Cancer is a horrible disease which affects so many people, and it has clearly been a really tough couple of weeks for Chris and his family.

“He absolutely deserved some good news and I was so happy to share some with him. It's a proper petrolhead-type car and I’m sure he is going to love driving it once he receives it. We wish him all the best for the future.”

BOTB hands over the keys to a stunning dream car each week as well as a lifestyle prize. It currently has Instant Win prizes up for grabs, with 5,000 to 15,000 winners everyday. Founded by William Hindmarch in 1999, it has given away £64m-worth of cars so far.
