A lucky Perth man has won a dream car and cash prize bundle in an online competition...for the second time.
Former firefighter Chris Phillips has proven lighting does strike in the same place twice after winning a second dream car with online competition specialist BOTB in five years.
In 2019, the 46-year-old became BOTB’s 500th Dream Car winner and won a Lamborghini Huracan Evo worth £200,000 along with a £20,000 cash prize.
He said: “To win again feels unbelievable. It’s life-changing.
“You’ve got to be in it to win it, and it’s such an amazing feeling when it comes off.”
To celebrate its milestone winner five years ago, the BOTB team pulled out all the stops and put Chris up for a night in a hotel in London before taking him by helicopter to Goodwood Motor Circuit, where his new car was waiting for him.
This time round, Chris found out he was this week’s winner of the competition via a video call from BOTB presenter Christian Williams, who had pretended he was just catching up with him following his previous big win.
As well as surprising him with his new BMW, Christian also revealed that the car came with £50,000 cash hidden in the boot.
“I still show family and friends the video of the day I won the Lamborghini and still get the buzz watching me going up in the helicopter. It reminds me of what a great day it was,” said Chris, who now works in the oil and gas industry.
“Christian got me well and good this time round, and I genuinely thought he was just phoning for a catch-up.
“I had got myself a cup of tea, but because I was shaking so much after he told me I had won I couldn’t pick it up.”
The BMW AutoID M2 features an i6 Turbo engine, 454bhp and top speed of 155mph.
“I’m a big fan of BMW’s anyway and since they revamped the M2 a couple of years ago, it’s now a well-built and stunning looking car,” added Chris, who has got a property in Spain.
“In terms of the cash, I will spend it on some nice stuff, including paying for my family to come across to Spain for a holiday.”
Christian said: “A huge, huge congratulations to Chris for winning this whopping prize worth £140,000. I just loved his reaction when he realised it was more than just a catch-up call.
“It’s five years since he became our 500th winner and won that fantastic Lamborghini and loads of cash to go with it, and it just goes to show anyone can win.
“After declaring his love for the BMW M2, it sounds like he cannot wait for the delivery day and get behind the wheel of his stunning new motor.”
Leading car competitions company BOTB hands over the keys to a stunning dream car each week as well as a lifestyle prize.
Its win a car competition sees people buy tickets for the car they want to win and then play spot the ball.
