Matthew Dicken from Melton Constable was relaxing in the spa of his hotel in Austria when a voicemail changed his life. After receiving a message from Christian Williams, a presenter with online competition specialist BOTB, Mr Dicken called back to discover he had won a BMW M3 Touring worth nearly £87,000 and a £50,000 cash prize.
“I was in the swimming pool and saw that I had a voice message from Christian telling me I am really going to want to speak to him," he said. "So I jumped out, started running around, and my heart was racing. When I spoke to him and he told me I had won I was in total shock, I wasn't really aware of what was going on at the time, but in the end, the whole thing was an amazing experience.”
The 43-year-old described the BMW as his "dream car" and had wanted to get one since it was released. “I never thought I would be able to afford one, so I’m obviously delighted," he said. "I’m certainly not going to skip an opportunity like this to own a brand new one.”
BOTB was founded by William Hindmarch in 1999 and has given away £64m-worth of cars so far. Mr Dicken, who owns his own business specialising in solar installation, started playing with BOTB in 2015. He added: “It’s a life-changing amount of money, but I’m not going to blow it, I’ll probably use it to do some stuff with my partner, Claire, and the kids. “I currently rent, so eventually I might also look to get back on the property ladder.”
