New Dad Wins Car and £10,000 {{favouriteCount}} Quantity of Likes

CHAMPAGNE corks were popping in a Worcestershire village this morning as a new father won a brand new Audi and £10,000.

Jay McLaughlin, of Popert Drive in Perry Wood Oaks, Worcester, had an amazing start to the working week when he was surprised with his prize at his work in Severn Stoke today.

The 36-year-old entered a spot the ball competition with Best of the Best, a website which gives people the chance to win a different car each week.

But despite entering hundreds of competitions both on BOTB.com and on other websites and on TV, Mr McLaughlin was still shocked and a bit speechless when the car turned up at his work place along with his wife Natasha and four month old baby girl Ferne.

He said: "I do the competitions online and on Saturday night TV to win cars and the lottery as well. I've won a few tenners but nothing more. This is the first time I have won anything major.

"I've been entering the BOTB competitions since January.

"I am shocked to win this. Very pleased but shocked. I think I will wake up in a minute."

Since taking part in the competitions on the website, set up by William Hindmarch, Mr McLaughlin has spent around £150 with the company, and £3.50 on entering the competition that won him the spoils.

"I liked the RS6 because it's not a two seater," said Mr McLaughlin, whose daughter Ferne is nearly four months old.

"It's a performance car with room in the back."

Now Mr McLaughlin will be able to go and choose his own model from the showroom and could use some of the £10,000 extra winnings to upgrade.

"I'm looking forward to driving it definitely. We were planning to take a trip in the UK this year so the money will help with that and we could drive there."

Wife Natasha said she was pleased that his competition entering was paying off.

"He enters competitions all the time," she added. "But he has never won anything. He used to enter for sporty cars but now because of Ferne he's been going for those with more room."

Commercial director Rupert Garton, who surprised Mr McLoughlin with his prize said he was delighted for him.

"Every time we give a car away it’s a special moment but with James and his wife celebrating a new baby recently it’s the ultimate present," he said.

"Surprising our winners is one of the best bits of the job. It’s a painstaking job tracking them down but we always manage it somehow."
