A man from Yorkshire has won a £144,000 Ferrari after entering an online competition for just 25p. Soroush Shemshadi, from Leeds, was speechless after netting the Ferrari 488 supercar, which has a top speed of an impressive 208mph.
The 40-year-old described winning the sports car as a “miracle” and “the most wonderful moment of my whole life”. “My dream’s come true,” he said. The Ferrari 488, with its V8 engine, can do 0-60mph in an astonishing three seconds.
Soroush won the car in a raffle by online car competitions company BOTB, based in London.
It was the first time the trained lifeguard had entered the competition.
Despite Soroush’s admiration for the yellow Ferrari, he admitted he was considering taking the cash alternative - a huge sum that he hopes will help him get back into work.
BOTB’s Christian Williams, who told Soroush he won the Italian supercar, said: “His reaction was just brilliant. He was absolutely speechless - shaking like a leaf!
“Watching him sit in the driver’s seat, hear the engine roar, and take in every detail of the car was just amazing. Whether he keeps the Ferrari or takes the cash, he’s got an incredible prize.”
BOTB described the Ferrari 488 as one of the most sought-after supercars in the world.
