Lucky Aberdeenshire man wins 'life-changing' £134k prize with 22p raffle ticket

An Aberdeenshire man was working from home when he received the surprise of a lifetime - a new car worth a whopping £134,000.
Ian Drummond discovered he had won the Mercedes G-Wagen after winning BOTB’s online competition which cost him just 22p to enter.
presenter Christian Williams turned up at his home to break the news, leaving the 47-year-old stunned. BOTB gives players the chance to win high-end vehicles for a fraction of their value.
Ian had entered the competition on a whim, never expecting he would come out on top.
“I started playing in 2010, and play quite regularly, but never expected to win,” said Ian, who lives near Aberdeen. “It’s a life-changing win, and the whole thing has been like a whirlwind.”

The Mercedes AMG G-Wagen, renowned for its off-road capability, luxury features, and powerful performance, is one of the most sought-after SUVs in the world.
“I like my big cars, and for 22p, I thought I had to give it a go,” said Ian. “I also travel a lot, so I thought it would keep me entertained!”
Ian, who works in business development in the energy sector, got to sit in the driver’s seat and fire up the engine as Christian talked him through the vehicle’s impressive features.
“There won’t be any hanging about in this one,” Ian joked.
Despite his love of the car, Ian said he was planning on taking the cash alternative.
“It’s a beautiful car, and I would love to drive around in it, but I’m just trying to be sensible.
“The cash would help us pay off our mortgage, secure our family home for the future, and just take the pressure off.”
He also plans to replace his 12-year-old car and take his wife on a well-deserved trip to somewhere like the Isles of Scilly or Croatia.
Christian said: “A massive congratulations to Ian for winning this fantastic prize.
“This car is unreal, but I totally understand why he’s thinking of taking the cash.
“It’s a huge amount of money, and knowing he can use it to help pay off his mortgage and treat his family makes it even more special.
“I hope he and his wife have an amazing trip – wherever they decide to go!”
The win came as a complete shock to Ian, but his wife had been in on the surprise all along.
As the official surprise contact for BOTB, she had to keep the life-changing news a secret until the big reveal.
“She must have done a fantastic job because Ian had no idea what was coming,” Christian added.
