I won £100,000 and my dream car in the lottery – here’s how I’ll spend the money {{favouriteCount}}
A man who won £100,000 and his dream car in the lottery has revealed how he will spend the money. Tate Taylor from Canvey Island, Essex, was struggling with the cost-of-living crisis when he bagged a BMW and the whopping cash prize. The 29-year-old delivery driver was overwhelmed with emotion after the scooping the jackpot. He won a BMW X5 xDrive 30d M-Sport worth £72,190 alongside a £30,000 cash prize courtesy of online competition firm BOTB.
Between the cost-of-living crisis, a car that’s seen better days, and recently having to move house, the father-of-three said his family have been feeling the financial strain. And Tate said that the lotto prize couldn’t have come at a better time. The Dream Car Competition winner admitted: “This is life-changing!
“We’ve just bought a house which needs some work doing to it. I really need a new car as well for my growing family.
"Mine is 14 years old and has become a bit of a money pit. With the cost of everything going up I wouldn’t have been able to afford a new motor." Tate then revealed that he would use some of the money to go on a well-deserved holiday with his family. And that trip will include a very popular tourist destination that his kids will surely love. The dad told EssexLive: “We haven’t been on a proper holiday since before the kids were born. "We will probably go on a little UK break this year and plan to take the kids to Disneyland next year.” The lucky 29-year-old was visited by BOTB presenter Christian Williams at his home in Canvey Island who surprised him with the news. “I was speechless when Christian turned up at my door,” Tate continued.
“I watch the videos of all the winners and I said I wouldn't be speechless if it ever happened to me, but I was! Christian took me by complete surprise. “I’ve always loved BMWs and the X5 is just an amazing looking car, but I will probably take the cash alternative because I have got the family to think about and the money means more to me now than a brand new car." Christian said: “It was amazing to be able to surprise Tate with this wonderful prize. He was clearly emotional and his reaction really moved me.
“With everything that has been going on, it is clearly going to change his family’s life for the better. They definitely deserve a holiday and I am sure they will have an amazing time in Disneyland.”
BOTB hands over the keys to a stunning dream car each week as well as a lifestyle prize. Winners have bagged Rolex watches, holidays and motorbikes in recent months. The company, listed on the stock market, was founded by William Hindmarch in 1999 and has given away more than £53m-worth of cars so far.
