Gloucester man wins Audi R8 V10 supercar on 75th birthday {{favouriteCount}}

A GRANDFATHER from Gloucestershire was left "lost for words" after winning an £82,000 luxury car on his 75th birthday.

Andrew Wallington, from Gloucester, secured the Audi R8 V10 for just 59p in an online competition.

The supercar boasts 550bhp and was handed over by online competitions company Best of the Best (BOTB) presenter, Christian Williams.

"When I saw Christian, I was shocked and completely lost for words," Andrew said.

"I only had three hours of sleep that night and kept thinking, did it really happen to me?

"I don’t think I’ve ever seen one, let alone touched one."

Despite his love for the car, Mr Wallington plans to take the cash alternative and spend it on his family.

He said: "If it had been 20 years earlier, I would have probably taken the car, but you’ve got to be sensible about these types of things.

"The money means we can have a bit of fun and do things around the home I have been putting off."

BOTB presenter Christian Williams said: "I’ve delivered loads of cars to winners, but being able to give someone such fantastic news on their birthday makes it even more memorable.

"Andrew has clearly fallen in love with his Audi, but I think the cash alternative will make life that little more straightforward and bring so much joy to his family."
