Dream Car Delight For Irene Who Can't Drive {{favouriteCount}}

After being handed the keys to a £40,000 luxury car with £10,000 in the glovebox, prize-winner Irene Dellar is set to celebrate in style - despite the fact that she can’t drive!

The 66-year-old from Morley had just returned with her husband Robin from a short break in Guernsey for his 70th birthday when she was flagged down by Best of the Best staff at the arrival gates in Manchester Airport. Irene won the cash and her own Range Rover Evoque after she bought tickets to the Best of the Best prize draw at the airport before she departed days earlier. She said: “As we walked though the arrival gates we were surprised by the guys from Best of the Best standing with all the taxi drivers with my name on a board. They took us out to the VIP area where there was this amazing car and they said it was ours. Well, you could have picked me up off the floor.”

Irene, who plans to celebrate by being driven around Morley by her husband, said the two of them had gone to Guernsey in a bid to revisit the place where they first met more than 40 years ago. Best of the Best gives away a dream car every two weeks, and since launching in 2000 has handed over the keys to more than £14m worth of dream motors. Irene said: “I couldn’t believe it. In fact, I still can’t believe it. I went round telling all the passengers to buy tickets because if I can win something like this, then everyone’s in with a chance.”
