Coventry man wins £32,000 car on a £7 whim {{favouriteCount}} Quantity of Likes

He was on a beach with his family when he was told the good news.

t’s not every day that you get given a £32,000 car while sunbathing on a Spanish beach - but that’s exactly what happened to Coventry man Ben Suckling.

He was building sand castles on a beach in Lanzarote when he was told the incredible news that he had won a Volkswagen E-Golf having entered a £7 competition at the airport.

“I didn’t know what to think - I thought I was getting arrested at first!" said Ben.

He had entered the competition at one of BOTB's stands at Birmingham Airport three days earlier and was then surprised by presenter Christian Williams and the rest of the BOTB team, who had flown out to give the family the amazing news.

Speaking afterwards, Ben said: “I hadn’t really taken much notice of the whole thing because you don’t expect to win these things - but I guess you’ve got to be in it to win it!

“I never in a million years thought I’d win. We’re a working class family, we don’t get a holiday like this every year and I’m just blown away. Thank you, BOTB!”

Since being founded in 1999 by William Hindmarch, BOTB has given away over £26.8million worth of prizes.

Christian said that it had been amazing to see Ben’s beachside reaction: “It’s not very often that we get to surprise our competitors on a sunny Spanish beach - it was great to head over to Lanzarote to surprise him.

“It was even more special because Ben was a first-time player who had bought his ticket on whim as he waited at the airport.

"He was such a great guy and I’m so glad that he tried his luck with us. I hope he and his family enjoy the rest of their time away.”
