A takeaway delivery driver from Coventry says his dreams have come true after winning a Mercedes CLA 35 AMG worth £40,000, plus £20,000 in cash, in a dream car competition.
Irslaan Mahmood, who delivers for Uber Eats, was in bed resting before an evening shift when he got the surprise call from BOTB (Best of the Best), a company running national competitions.
Breaking the incredible news was BOTB presenter Christian Williams.
“I had just woken up, and I couldn’t believe it, I still can’t if I’m being honest,” said the 23-year-old, who lives with his family in Coventry city centre.
“This has changed everything for me. I have a brand new car which I love and enough cash to put a deposit down on my own house, it’s two life goals ticked off. Getting either of these things looked extremely hard to make a reality before today.”
Irslaan decided to play for the Mercedes CLA 35 AMG after only seeing one before at a wedding and falling in love with it.
“It’s an amazing car, it really is, and they’re also pretty rare too,” he said. “I can tell you now that I’ll be the only one driving one of these cars around here.”
Christian surprises winners all over the world every week, although during coronavirus he will be doing surprises over Facetime, rather than visiting the winners on their doorsteps.
“These prizes really are life changing, and for Irslaan he has got his dream car and enough money to get him on the property ladder which is just fantastic news,” said Christian.
Since being founded in 1999 by William Hindmarch, BOTB has given away over £32m worth of prizes.
Listed on the stock market, BOTB has a high-profile stand at airports although most people play online at BOTB.com
