Cork punter wins €60k luxury car in online draw while isolating at home {{favouriteCount}} Quantity of Likes

If you've ever seen a gorgeous car on display as a prize in an airport and wondered: 'what kind of people win those?' the answer is, people like Olivier from Kinsale.

The Cork tech worker was at home on Tuesday morning, feeling a little sick and self-isolating, when he got a video call from the UK.

The Kinsale man's first instinct was to not answer, he works in cybersecurity and is understandably wary about calls from strange numbers overseas.
But when the organisers of a prize draw he had entered got in touch to say; "please pick up - we have some good news for you' - Olivier finally jumped on, to find that the ticket he'd bought online from big prize specialists BOTB had proved to be a winner.
Olivier bought the ticket for the weekly BOTB Dream Car Draw for €1.40 - the 25-year-old tech worker had won a top-of-the-range, €60k Hyundai Ioniq 5 electric vehicle.
Crowned 'Car of the Year' by AutoExpress in 2021, the seriously cool EV can sprint to 0-62mph in just 5.2 seconds. It's won praise from car mags for the huge space inside and hi-tech features like its massive infotainment screen.

It was a big moment for Olivier, who took the call from Christian from the prize draw, telling him: "I could just fly over and kiss you!". The sentiment was understandable given the nature of the news but a close contact like that would probably not be the best idea at the moment given Olivier's isolation status.
